At Tailor Fishing Rods, we stand behind the quality of our products and want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. This policy outlines your return, exchange, and refund options, in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Voluntary 30-Day Returns (Change of Mind) We offer a 30-day return policy for most items. You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return for change of mind.
To be eligible:
- The item must be unused, in the same condition as when you received it, with all original tags/labels attached.
- It must be in its original packaging (undamaged).
- You must provide proof of purchase (order confirmation, receipt, or invoice).
How to Start a Return Contact us at sales@tailorfishingrods.com.au with your order number, a description of the reason for return, and photos if requested.
If approved, we'll provide a return shipping label (or instructions) and the return address: Unit 4, Level 1, 38 Queen Street, Nambour, Queensland, 4560.
Important: Items sent back without prior approval will not be accepted or processed. Unauthorized returns may be refused or returned to you at your expense.
Non-Returnable Items (Change of Mind) For hygiene, safety, or custom nature reasons, the following cannot be returned or exchanged under our voluntary policy:
- Custom-built or personalized rods (e.g., custom length, components, or engravings).
- Used or assembled fishing gear (rods that have been rigged, cast, or used in water).
- Clearance/final sale items (marked as such at purchase).
- Consumables or perishable items (e.g., baits, lines if opened).
Damages, Defects, and Issues (Consumer Guarantees under Australian Consumer Law)
All our products come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. If your item has a major or minor fault (e.g., defective materials, not as described, not fit for purpose, or damaged on arrival), you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund (depending on the nature of the failure).
Please inspect your order immediately upon receipt. Contact us as soon as possible (ideally within 7 days) at sales@tailorfishingrods.com.au if you notice any damage, defect, or incorrect item. Provide photos and your order details so we can assess quickly.
- For faulty/damaged/defective items covered by ACL guarantees, we cover reasonable return shipping costs (and original shipping if a full refund is issued).
- We are not responsible for damage caused by the courier during transit unless the damage qualifies under ACL (e.g., poor packaging on our part).
- At checkout, you had the option to purchase additional transit insurance. If you selected and paid for it, we will assist with claiming from the courier. If not selected, transit damage may not be covered by us beyond ACL requirements.
We will evaluate the issue and offer the appropriate remedy (repair, replacement, or refund) as required by law.
Exchanges The quickest way to get the right item is to return the original (following the process above) and place a new order once processed. We cannot guarantee stock for exchanges, but we'll help prioritize where possible.
Refunds Once we receive and inspect your return:
- We'll notify you by email if the return/refund is approved (or if any issues were found).
- If approved, refunds are issued to your original payment method.
- Refunds typically appear in your account within 10 business days, though your bank or card issuer may take longer (up to 15+ days in some cases).
If more than 15 business days have passed since approval without seeing the refund, contact us at sales@tailorfishingrods.com.au.
Return Shipping Costs
- Change of mind returns: Customer pays return shipping (unless we offer a prepaid label in specific cases).
- Faulty/damaged/defective (ACL): We cover reasonable return costs.
- Original shipping fees are non-refundable for change of mind returns.
